Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo (Tana):
Arrive at the airport in Antananarivo (also called Tana by the locals), the capital city of Madagascar. You’ll be greeted by the city’s rich history and cultural mix. Check into a hotel on arrival. Spend rest of the day at leisure. Enjoy your dinner. Overnight in Tana.

After breakfast in the morning, spend the day exploring the city’s historical landmarks. Visit the Rova (Queen’s Palace), and enjoy a panoramic view from the highlands. Start the day after a nice breakfast. Check out from the hotel and go on to explore the town. Antsirabe was a home to the French colonial powers. This is evident from the French era railway station, Post Office, Hotel and Churches. The town is renowned for its hand pulled pousse-pousse (rickshaws). Go around the main town square on these rickshaws to take a feel of the town.
Take a tour of the grand colonial era hotel, called Hôtel des Thermes, where French officers used to stay. The railway station is no more used by people, but it is a nice reflection of how life was during colonial period. Notre Dam church is a significant landmark in the town, and so is the GPO. Enjoy a round of Independent Square and feel free to visit a local market to see the daily life of the local people.
Afterwards, start the drive to Ranomafana National Park. This is a drive of more than 8 hours. Check into a hotel on arrival in Ranomafana. Have a nice dinner and retire to your room for a good overnight sleep.
