Bhutan Tour Package Detailed Itinerary:

Tour Package: Paro to Paro

Duration: 6nights/7days (The same package will become 8nights/9days if you choose to do it by road. In that case the package will be done from New Alipurduar/Hashimara to New Alipurduar/Hashimara)

Day 1: Arrive in Paro: 

Start your Bhutan Travel by flying to Paro International Airport. Our English speaking representative will receive you at the airport. Check into a hotel in Paro. Rest of the day at leisure. You can go around the local market in Paro.

Day 2: Paro Sightseeing:

Post breakfast begin the day with a visit to the National Museum, locally known as the Ta Dzong. The museum houses several exotic collections of arts, crafts, and paintings.

Rinpung Dzong, Paro

To understand the culture of this paradise of Himalaya called Bhutan, a visit to this place becomes mandatory. After exploring the museum, you can enjoy a walking trail of Rinpung Dzong. Replete with legends and fables, a visit to this place will help you know more about Bhutan.

Post lunch visit Drukgyel Dzong , a monument on UNESCO Heritage list. The fortified ruins of the fort still resonate with the stories of valor and chivalry of the rulers. You may also choose to visit a farmhouse to witness the lifestyle and traditions of the natives staying here.

Have dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Paro.

Day 3: Paro – Thimphu:

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu, capital and the largest city of Bhutan, the land of pure happiness. Visit Dupthop Lhakhang, a place of spirituality and worship for Bhutanese nuns. Later visit  Thimphu Mini Zoo where you will see Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. This animal is unique of Bhutan, as it lives only on the Himalayan slopes of this country. Its head looks like that of a goat and the body resembles that of a cow or yak.

Later, visit the National Library, the Painting School, and the Traditional Medicine Institute, a few of the popular attractions housed within the city.

Enjoy a really beautiful view of the sun set from Sangaygang View Point which is about 2685 meters above sea level. The entire Thimphu Valley is visible from here.

Check into a hotel in Thimphu afterwards. Have dinner and enjoy a good night rest.

Day 4: Thimphu – Punakha:

After a sumptuous breakfast, travel to Punakha. Post lunch proceed towards Punakha that was once the capital of Bhutan. Punakha continues to remain the winter residence of Je-Khenpo, the country’s spiritual leader.

To catch a glimpse of the beauty of Bhutan, halt in Dochula on the way and spend a few moments gazing at the Himalayas and nature around. Once in Punakha, go and explore the impressive Punakha Dzong, the administrative centre of Punakha District.

Punakha Dzong, which means the palace of great happiness, is located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers. This was constructed by Ngawang Namgyal in 1637–38. The Dzong houses the sacred relics of the southern Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, including the sacred remains of Ngawang Namgyal.

After exploring Punakha Dzong go and check into a hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Enjoy dinner and a good overnight rest. Overnight in Punakha

Day 5: Punakha – Thimphu – Paro:

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu on the way back to Paro. Explore the city looking at the different aspects visible in the city. Have lunch at one of the restaurants in Thimphu. After finishing lunch quite leisurely, start for Paro. On arrival in Paro check into a hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Paro.

Day 6: Paro – Tiger’s Nest Excursion

Tiger’s Nest, Paro

After an early breakfast, embark on an adventure excursion to Taktsang Monastery, also called Tiger’s Nest. The place is held in great reverence by the locals.

The trek to the monastery is a real adventure. It is a tough trek in parts –  particularly for those who are not used to climb steep hills. Trek may be tiring but the scenic beauty of the Himalayas on the route is quite awesome. While trekking, do listen to the many fables that the guide and the locals will narrate to you. The interesting tales will only enhance the pleasures of your trip.

Please note, not just ascent up the hill is difficult, coming down the hill is another kind of adventure. Many may feel it strenuous, particularly on knees. All tourists must use shoes or very comfortable sandals for the two way trek.

Return to the hotel exhausted. Enjoy your meal and recoup from the tiredness of the day at leisure. Have your dinner and enjoy a good overnight sleep.

Day 7: Paro – Onward Destination:

Post breakfast leave for the airport to travel back to your destination. Paro is connected by flights to Indian cities like Kolkata, New Delhi and Bagdogra.
