India Gate, Delhi

Day 1: New Delhi: Arrive early in morning in New Delhi and drive straight to hotel. Relax for some time, get fresh and have a sumptuous breakfast. Later, embark on a sightseeing tour of New Delhi. Start with Qutab Minar and other ancient and medieval period monuments surrounding it. Together they have also been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Qutab Minar is some 73m high and a symbol of the Delhi Sultanate period. Other famous monuments in the Qutab Minar complex include the Iron Pillar of Delhi, Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, Alai Darwaza, the Tomb of Iltutmish, Alai Minar, and Ala-ud-din’s Madrasa and tomb.

Afterwards, go and visit India Gate, a war memorial dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives during First World War and Third Anglo-Afghan War. Take a visit to Rajghat, a memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Afterwards, visit Jama Masjid, a mosque built by Shah Jahan in the mid 17th century. Take a paddle rickshaw ride in the old city. See the narrow lanes where business is still carried out in big volumes. Get a fair idea of how things were during the Mughal and later during British period. There are Sikh temples and Jainese temples as well in Old city. Explore them.

Go for a sightseeing of Red Fort after a delicious lunch at one of the restaurants in Old City. Red Fort was the place from where Shah Jahan ruled. This was the place where Nadir Shah invaded and killed so many people. Have a look at the different monuments within the Fort. Towards the evening, enjoy the light and sound show.
Return to the hotel, have dinner. Overnight in New Delhi.

Day 2: New Delhi – Guwahati – Manas National Park: After an early breakfast drive to the airport and catch flight to Guwahati. On arrival, drive straight to Manas National Park, a wildlife park located at the foothills of the Bhutan-Himalayas. This is a drive of four to five hours. Check into a resort on arrival at Manas. Get yourself acclimatized to the conditions at the resort. Enjoy walks in and around the resort. If interested, you can enjoy a bonfire too. Have a nice dinner. Overnight at Manas.

Day 3: Manas National Park:
Full day at Manas National Park, a Park listed among UNESCO World Heritage sites. Have morning and afternoon jeep safaris. Manas is not just known for being the home of Royal Bengal Tigers, but you also see elephants, leopards, deer and wild buffaloes. Some rhinos have also been trans-located to Manas from Pobitara Wildlife Sanctuary in the last seven to eight years. Manas is also known for a wide variety of birds; having the largest population of the endangered Bengal Florican in the world. It is also a great place to see the Great Hornbill. The last population of the Pygmy Hog also survives in the wilds of Manas only.

Go walking around the periphery of the National Park and look at the life in the villages. Have a nice dinner in the evening. Overnight at Manas.

Day 4: Manas National Park – Pobitara Wildlife Sanctuary: Have the morning safari (if you want) and have breakfast after getting fresh. Check out and head to Pobitara Wildlife Sanctuary. Reach Pobitara after a drive of around six hours and check into a resort. Relax in the afternoon. Enjoy the evening with nice food and dinner. Overnight in Pobitara.

Day 5: Pobitara Wildlife Sanctuary – Kaziranga National Park: Get up early in the morning and go to the forest gate. Go for a morning safari in a jeep. Pobitara is known for its high density of one-horned rhinoceros population. There are other animals like leopards, wild buffaloes, barking deer and wild boars in the forest. Pobitara is also known for being home to wide varieties of birds and reptiles.

Return to the resort after a fun filled safari. Have breakfast and check out from the resort. Drive to Kaziranga National Park. Check into a resort on reaching Kaziranga after a drive of around five hours. Rest of the evening at leisure.

Have a nice and delicious dinner. Overnight at Kaziranga.

Day 6: Kaziranga National Park: Get up very early in the morning. Transfer to the National Park entrance for an elephant ride (has to be booked well in advance). Have a look at the rhinos from almost a touching distance. You can also have a view of deer and other animals. Outside chance of sighting of a tiger is also there.

Return to the resort afterwards. Have a nice breakfast and spend your time at leisure. If interested, you can visit nearby villages or local areas. There are small markets as well. You can enjoy swimming at your resort. In the afternoon, after lunch, head for an afternoon safari in a jeep. Enjoy the sightings of rhinos, elephants, wild buffaloes, barking deer, and large number of deer. If you are lucky you can sight even a tiger or a leopard. Keep an eye on the wide varieties of birds Kaziranga has.

Return to the resort. Spend the evening at leisure, looking at and sharing your photos. Have a nice dinner. Overnight in Kaziranga.

Day 7: Kaziranga National Park – Nameri National Park: Get up early in the morning and head for a morning jeep safari. Enjoy the beauty of Kaziranga early in the morning. There are all chances to see all kinds of animals going for their respective preys.

Return to the resort, get fresh and have a nice sumptuous breakfast. Check out from the resort and head to Nameri National Park, located at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, in Sonitpur District of Assam.

Check into a resort at Nameri after a drive of a little more than two hours from Kaziranga. Have a nice lunch at the resort. Rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 8: Nameri National Park: Nameri National Park is situated close to the borders of Arunachal Pradesh. Pakhui (Pakke) Sanctuary of Arunachal Pradesh adjoins the Park on its North-Eastern point. The area is crisscrossed by the river Jia Bhoroli and its tributaries. No jeep safari is available here. Visitors can enjoy the beauty and diversity of the Park either by rafting on a boat or by walking.

In the morning, have your breakfast and go for rafting (allowed from 7am to 2pm) in the Jia Bhoroli River. This is a 14km mild rafting route and takes over three hours. Return to the resort afterwards. Have some rest and after an early lunch head off for a nature trail (allowed from 7am to 12pm and then again from 2pm to 5pm) within the Park.

Visitors are accompanied by an armed guard. The five kilometer wildlife trail starts from Potasali Ghat and takes visitors through the abandoned channel of Jia Bhoroli, natural salt licks at Pung nala, and other forest patches. There are watchtowers to look for animals. These can be good spots to look for tigers, leopards and even elephants. There are all chances that on your nature train you come across deer, wild buffaloes, hog deer, barking deer and wild boar. There is a healthy population growth of these animals here.

Nameri National Park is also famous for wide varieties of birds and butterflies.

Return to the resort. Have bonfire and enjoy dinner. Overnight in Nameri.

Day 9: Nameri National Park – Guwahati: Check out from the resort after breakfast and head to Guwahati. This is a drive of nearly six hours. Check into a hotel on arrival in Guwahati. After some rest go and visit the famous Kamrup Kamakhya Temple. Return to the hotel, go for a walk in the market. Have a nice and delicious dinner at one of the city restaurants. Overnight in Guwahati.

Day 10: Guwahati – New Delhi – Onward Destination: Get up leisurely in the morning. Have your breakfast. If you want, you can do some last minute souvenir shopping. Check out and drive to the airport. Catch your flight to New Delhi. From there you can take your flight for your onward destination relishing well spent time exploring the wildlife in the forests of Assam.
